Why is Speech and Drama more important now?

It is documented, worldwide, that many children and adults, are losing the art of good communication due to the rapidly changing, technological world in which we now live.

Whilst technology provides us with faster, more efficient ways of communication, it is said to be threatening the normal function of face-to-face relationships with eye-contact, creating an inability to recognise and understand the emotions of others. The lack of these natural phenomena is causing a breakdown in reciprocal conversation, conflict resolution and in some cases, causing unnecessary anxiety and stress. Technology will not stop here.

Speech and Drama can introduce many skills that will assist in building a child’s confidence and self-esteem, allowing them to become confident, assertive communicators. It is the confident communicator who will find success in the 21st century.
